What is the ACHWM?

Picture
The ACHWM (Aaniish Naa Gegii: the Children's Health and Well-being Measure) is a collaborative project between  the Wikwemikong Health Centre and Laurentian University. This project began in 2011 with the goal of enabling health leaders in Indigenous communities across Canada to gather information on the health of children and youth within their community.

The ACHWM was initiated to directly involve the perspectives of Indigenous children and youth (Ages 8-18) in the design of a culturally appropriate health and well-being outcome measure. The tablet-based questionnaire is now ready for use, and can be personalized by naming it “how are you?” in your traditional language. For example:  Aaniish naa gegii, meaning how are you in Ojibwe)
