Chelsea Seguin is currently a student in the Master of Interdisciplinary Human Development program at Laurentian University under the supervision of Dr. Nicole Yantzi. Her thesis committee also includes: Dr. Nancy Young and Dr. Shelley Watson.
Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Chelsea is hopes to continue her academic career in medicine and is deeply passionate about adolescent and family health in northern Ontario. Chelsea is interested in childhood related disabilities and has gained practical experience in the area of respite and pediatric care for medically-fragile children while working at Roger’s House in Ottawa. This experience has led her to explore health disparities and access to care differences in northern Ontario communities.
Chelsea’s Master’s research focuses on the transition of youth with cerebral palsy from the paediatric to adult-oriented health care system in northern Ontario and will be exploring barriers to transition from the perspective of paediatricians and family physicians in Sault Ste. Marie. She is also directing a portion of her research on identifying innovative solutions to combat these barriers.
