Koyo Usuba is research analyst under the supervision of Dr. Nancy Young, working at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. He is a graduate from the Master in Human Kinetics program at Laurentian University. His thesis examined quality of life and physical activities in adults with cerebral palsy. His research identified key relationships between QoL and physical activities for this population, which is important in shaping their health behaviour.
In 2004, Koyo earned a Physiotherapist License in Japan. He has worked as a PT in various fields, including in hospital, rehabilitation, and clinic settings, and for a medical device company. He enjoys clinical practice, but is also interested in clinical research. Throughout his career, he has been involved in research projects such as: “Back Pain in Fire Fighters,” “Causal Factors of Falls and Relationship among Factors in Inpatients in Rehabilitation Department,” and “Gait Analysis in Patients with Hip Osteoarthritis with Focus on Push Off Angle.”
